ITINERARY
Pick-up at you Hotel in Torres del Paine (or Puerto Natales) and one hour drive to Grey Lake. From there, a short half hour walk will take us to the catamaran embarkation area. Enjoy a one-hour navigation aboard the Grey III catamaran to our basecamp located, on the shores of Grey Lake very close to the glacier.
Upon arrival at the basecamp, our guides will provide an introductory briefing about the route, the duration of the tour, and ensure all equipment is properly adjusted for each participant. Afterward, a 15-minute speed boat ride will take us to the west side of the Grey Glacier. Upon arrival, we disembark on the glacier island (nunatak) and hike for about 20-minutes until we reach the ice. Before stepping onto the glacier, the guide will conduct a safety briefing, explaining the techniques for moving on the ice and the correct use of equipment. Once the briefing is complete, we begin our exploration of Grey Glacier, which lasts approximately 3 hours. Along the way, you’ll marvel at cracks, rivers, lagoons, and tunnels in stunning shades of blue. After our adventure on the glacier, we return by zodiac boat to the basecamp. Dinner and night at Grey lodge. (L/D)
After breakfast, we take a short walk to the Bigfoot Patagonia basecamp, where our guides will introduce us to the necessary equipment and conduct a safety briefing. The safety briefing will take place on land, where you will learn about the kayak, paddle, route, and weather conditions. Once ready, we carry the kayaks about 20 meters to the lake’s edge, and the adventure begins!
Once on board, we will sail towards the imposing east face of the glacier, always keeping a safe distance. We will marvel at the majesty of its ice wall. Next we will head towards a meltwater waterfall fed by another of the park’s glaciers, and then to a bay where icebergs from the Grey Glacier are trapped. The presence and quantity of these depends on the glacier’s calving Lunch and embark on a scenic hike along the enchanting shores of Grey Lake, taking in magnificent views of vibrant-blue icebergs. Fun fact: “Paine” is a Tehuelche Indian word meaning “blue.” After the hike, cross Pehoe Lake by catamaran and transfer from Pudeto to your hotel. End of our services. (B/L)
