ITINERARY
Our guide will welcome you upon arrival at Puerto Natales Airport and arrange your transfer to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner and a
brieng session to go over the trip itinerary. (D)
Transfer by van to Torres del Paine National Park eastern end. This is a two-hour journey crossing the Patagonian pampa. Arrival to Torres del Paine whereupon you will start the 2hr trek up and in to the Ascencio Valley, stopping off at Refugio Chileno. After a short stop here, the trek will continue for an hour, through a forest of the native Lenga (Beech) trees until reaching the glacial moraine. From this point it is another hour to the top where the high, three vertical towers can be seen at close range. The return trek is a little easier and takes about 4hrs to get back down to the trail end. Dinner and nigth at Refugio Torres. (B/L/D)
Today marks the beginning of our trek around the Paine Massif. In the morning, we organize our gear and depart, crossing ancient glacial moraines en route to Camp Seron. The trail passes through Lenga forests, offering opportunities to observe Austral parakeets, several species of geese, and, with luck, a guanaco or fox. Lodging and dinner will be provided at Camp Seron. (B/L/D)
Following an early breakfast, we depart for our hike to Lago Dickson, a glacial lake situated at the edge of the Southern Patagonia Ice Cap. The trail passes bright blooming Notro bushes and includes a stream crossing alongside the lake. This is a scenic and leisurely hike. Upon reaching Refugio Dickson, guests can enjoy hot showers and purchase cold beer. Lodging and dinner will be provided at Refugio Dickson. (B/L/D)
After packing up, we head out for one of our favorite hikes through a pristine old growth beech forest. The red-headed Magellanic woodpecker often greets us along the way. Before reaching camp, we’ll pass Glacier Perros, where we can enjoy spectacular close-up views of both the ice and its lake. We’ll camp tonight at Los Perros, right at the base of Paso John Garner. (B/L/D)
Our most demanding day begins with a climb to Paso John Garner, following trails that wind through dense forests above the imposing Glaciar Grey. On reaching the pass after five hours, we are greeted with spectacular views of rugged, snow-covered
peaks and the immense Southern Patagonia Ice Cap, a vision of pristine beauty. The Grey Glacier stretches out beneath us, a broad ribbon of ice reaching toward the horizon. After a restful lunch, we continue our journey, descending through ancient lenga forests. Along the way, natural terraces offer occasional glimpses of the glacier and ice cap. Our day concludes at Refugio Grey, where we gather for for a hearty dinner and well-deserved rest. (B/L/D)
After a restful morning, we set off in the afternoon for a short walk to Bigfoot Patagonia Basecamp. There, the guides brief us on the route, check our gear, and prepare us for the adventure ahead. A quick zodiac ride carries us to the west side of Grey Glacier, where we land on a rocky nunatak. After a short hike, we reach the ice. Following a safety brieng, we begin our three-hour exploration of the glacier, weaving through shimmering cracks, blue lagoons, rivers, and icy tunnels. After an unforgettable trek, we return by zodiac to basecamp for dinner and an overnight stay at Refugio Grey.(B/L/D)
From Bigfoot Basecamp on the northeast shore of Lake Grey, our guides introduce the necessary equipment and give a safety brieng. After carrying the kayaks about 20 meters to the water’s edge, the adventure begins! We paddle among oating icebergs and towards the eastern face of Grey Glacier, marveling at the stunning scenery. In the afternoon, we trek across a high plateau overlooking Lake Grey and its icebergs, making our way to Lake Pehoé —“hidden lake” in the Tehuelche language. We will expend the night at Lodge Paine Grande, where dinner and lodging await. Enjoy a well deserved pisco sour while taking in sunset views of Paine Grande and Los Cuernos. (B/L/D)
From Paine Grande lodge it is a 2.5hrs trek to the entrance of the French Valley where there are hanging glaciers and an amphitheatre of granite walls and spires. There are amazing views throughout this trek and the further you trek into the valley the better they become. Reaching the French Valley main viewpoint, from where you can appreciate the natural amphitheatre created by glaciers millions of years ago, it is an absolutely breath-taking view. Dinner and night at refugio Cuernos or camp. (B/L/D)
We trek along the shores of Lake Nordenskjöld, passing beneath the hanging glaciers of Mount Almirante Nieto, on our way to Hostería Las Torres. After 5–6 hours of hiking, we arrive at the parking area where our van awaits. From there, we transfer back to Puerto Natales for a farewell dinner and overnight stay at Hotel Natalino or similar. The climate in Patagonia is a very important factor to take into account. Remember that strong winds, rain and snow characterize this region. The winds blow from the northeast and the Pacific, crossing the southern Patagonian ice fields and forming continuous clouds that can result in unpleasant storms. Although not very often does the good weather come along to give the pleasure of enjoying this place. Lenticular clouds will announce the arrival of strong winds.
